{"id":94,"date":"2013-05-02T10:00:58","date_gmt":"2013-05-02T10:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/revued.net\/?p=94"},"modified":"2013-05-02T16:38:48","modified_gmt":"2013-05-02T16:38:48","slug":"catch-up-round-up-250413-010513","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.revued.net\/index.php\/catch-up-round-up-250413-010513\/","title":{"rendered":"Catch Up Round Up:  25\/04\/13 &#8211; 01\/05\/13"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A brief summary of what&#8217;s still available on Catch Up\/On Demand from a pick of the previous weeks TV.\u00a0 All dates are as of Thursday 2nd May 2013.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Politician&#8217;s Husband<\/strong> &#8211; Aired Thursday 25th April BBC2.\u00a0 15 days left.<\/p>\n<p>An enjoyable drama that I anticipate will get darker as the series goes on.\u00a0 Some flowery dialogue aside (they are politicians after all), this could be one to keep an eye on.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s just hope the characters don&#8217;t get too unlikeable before we can really get into it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The United States of Television: America in Primetime<\/strong> &#8211; Aired Saturday 27th April BBC2.\u00a0 17 days left.<\/p>\n<p>A thinly veiled excuse to replay lots of clips of great shows from primetime Amercian television.\u00a0 This week: Misfits (episode 1, Man of the House, is also available but I haven&#8217;t been able to watch it yet).\u00a0 If you like your characters weird and wonderful, this is the show for you, if only to remind you that you never got round to watching that and should search for a cheap DVD (Twin Peaks definitive gold boxset only \u00a327 on Amazon!).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vicious<\/strong> &#8211; Aired Monday 29th April ITV1.\u00a0 27 days left.<\/p>\n<p>Considering the cast, I&#8217;m not sure if this is supposed to be a satirical sideswipe at the stereotypical depiction of gay people, or just a stereotypical depiction of gay people that has taken most of it&#8217;s inspiration from Are you Being Served?.\u00a0 One thing I do know is it&#8217;s terrible.\u00a0 Except for the curtain gag, which I didn&#8217;t really get, but at least it didn&#8217;t make my ears bleed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dispatches: Secrets of Your Missing Mail<\/strong>\u00a0 &#8211; Aired Monday 29th April Ch4.\u00a0 27 days left.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0brief peek\u00a0into how private mail companies actually look after your post in light of the news that Royal Mail will be privatised.\u00a0 Though you will be left with an impotent rage you can do shit all about, it&#8217;s well worth a watch.\u00a0 Especially if like me, you like to have things to be indignant about.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Job Lot<\/strong> &#8211; Aired Monday 29th April IVT1.\u00a0 27 days left.<\/p>\n<p>This show has perfectly captured and replicated the feel of a job centre.\u00a0 It&#8217;s boring, banal and has absolutely no regard for any of the characters roaming around inside of it.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t hate this, or love it.\u00a0 I nothing it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sweat the Small Stuff<\/strong> &#8211; Aired Tuesday 30th April BBC3.\u00a0 10 days left.<\/p>\n<p>The hilarious trailers for this led me to believe I was going to see an insightful 30 minute pondering about the everyday minutiae of life.\u00a0 What I got was a yoof panel show with mediocre guests.\u00a0 Damn you BBC3!\u00a0 Recommended for when you have a hangover on a Sunday morning or if there just isn&#8217;t anything else on.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scott &amp; Bailey<\/strong> &#8211; Aired Wednesday 1st May ITV1.\u00a0 TBC days left.<\/p>\n<p>This series has been a little off, with pacing issues, flashbacks and 3 out of 5 episodes dedicated to the Bevan family (as interesting as it is).\u00a0 Though I can&#8217;t fault the acting, writing or even the onsite catering, I think it&#8217;s just missing that direction that we have seen in previous series.\u00a0 That being said, Scott &amp; Bailey on a bad day is still better than most tv, though I get the feeling you have to have lady parts to appreciate it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A brief summary of what&#8217;s still available on Catch Up\/On Demand from a pick of the previous weeks TV.\u00a0 All dates are as of Thursday 2nd May 2013.
